Departure at 7:30 A.M. from “Aleksandar Nevski” Square, Sofia City. The town of Tryavna was founded in the 12th century but its true flourishing was in 19th century during the Revival period. The town has preserved many houses with original architecture, carving workshops and little stores. Here is the museum-house of Pencho Slaveykov – a noted Bulgarian poet. Other historical and cultural sights include the Daskalova House and the Raykova House, as well as the African and Asian Art Museum. We can not miss to mention one of the symbols of the town – the famous Clock Tower dating from 1814. The Dryanovski Monastery "Sv Arhangel Mihail" (St Archangel Michael) was built during the reign of King Kaloyan in 12th century. The monastery's history is connected with the fights and the struggle for Bulgarian independence from Ottoman domination, proving evidences for which are the tracks of Ottoman's shrapnels on the monastery's walls. There is a monument-ossuary in the courtyard of the monastery, dedicated to the Priest Hariton's band of revolutionaries who had lost their lives in the fights. Departure back to Sofia at 5 P.M.
