ABOUT THE RESORT
Obzor - Bulgaria Obzor - Bulgaria Obzor - Bulgaria Obzor - Bulgaria
The resort is situated in Nessebar Municipality, Bourgas Province, near the town of Byala. After the valley of Kamchiya River, Stara Planina Mountain reaches the valley of Dvoynitsa River and ends around Obzor. Its last part is the Emine Mountain, which is wide and low, and it goes steepen down to the valley of Hadzhiyska River. It ends in the Black Sea with the 60-metres high Emine Cape. After that the shore sharply turns west going 15 km and reaching Bourgas Bay. In this part of the mountain there are mainly broad-leaved trees – the scenery is beautiful and chequered. The amazing combination of mountain and sea attracts tourists going in Obzor and that makes it a wonderful individual or family holiday place.

HISTORY:
Numerous architectural relics, fortress walls and columns testify for centuries-old history of Obzor. The first settlers here were the Thracian people. The region was inhabited by the nipsi tribe. The legendary ancient Greek epic poet Homer writes in his work “Iliad” that the tribe defended Troy and their king Rez was killed by Odysseus and Diomedes. Their capital was Emine Cape. The nipsi tribe men were farmers and hunters. They used primitive boats to sail into the sea. Hippocrates describes them as “robust, blond and wild”. The first name of the town was Naulohos, and later it was renamed as Heliopolis – the sun city. The Romans built there a temple dedicated to Jupiter and a fortress. Later during the Middle Ages the town became possession of the boyar Karvun and it was known to the Bulgarians as Kozyak.
Obzor was officially declared a town on September 9th, 1984. Today in the small park of the town remains from columns, capitals and statues from the Roman temple of Jupiter are exhibited.
