Albena is famous as “The Pearl of the Bulgarian Sea Coast”. The resort's name comes from a heroine named Albena in a book by the noted Bulgarian writer Yordan Yovkov, which was gifted with amazing beauty. There are many modern hotels in the complex with splendid sea views and great potential for sun-bathing. Albena Resort is appropriate for family holidays. It is a quieter place compared to the bigger resorts Sunny Beach and Golden Sands. Only 10 km away from Albena is the Botanical Garden in Balchik where you can see unique plants and the architectural park complex “Dvoretsat” (“The Castle”). Albena is situated in proximity to Baltata reserve which comprises a dense wood along Batova River. It spreads out on 183 hectares and includes the territory on the main road Kranevo – Albena, it continues behind the hotels of the complex and reaches the Black Sea. Thus an incomparable combination of nature and comfort is created with varied holiday opportunities and echo tourism.
CLIMATE: The climate in Albena is typical for the northern Black Sea coast but it has more beneficial ecological indicators – clean air rich in salt, ozone, bromine, calcium, iodine. The air humidity is 63 – 65 %. Albena is ecologically clean resort with very well-appointed medical and balneological centres and highly qualified personnel.
TOURISM CONDITIONS. BEACHES: The beach is 5 km long with 150 metres width. Transport to the beach is provided for tourists from distant hotels every 30 minutes (every day from 10.00 am till 05.30 pm) and mini trains – every day from 8.00 am till 08.00 pm. The beach is well kept, as is the sea water. There are numerous lifeguard posts on the beach.
LOCATION: Albena is a resort in north-east Bulgaria, Dobrich Province. It is in 12 km from the town of Balchik, 30 km from the city of Varna and in 500 km north-east from the capital of Sofia. Other towns and settlements in the region: - towns/cities:Varna; - resorts/holiday settlements: Balchik, St St Konstantin and Elena, Slanchev Den, Golden Sands, Chaika; - other settlements: the villages of Kranevo and Obrochishte.
TRANSPORT: How can we reach Albena? By air plane: The fastest way to reach Albena from Sofia is taking the plane Sofia – Varna. From Varna Airport you can take a bus or a taxi to Albena. There are regular buses between Varna and Albena. By bus: You can take a direct bus to Albena from the Central Bus Station in Sofia. During the summer season a preliminary ticket purchase is recommended (at least a week prior to the travel date).
ATTRACTIONS: Among the interesting attractions Albena offers to its guests are jeep safari, parachute frying, water wheels, jets, fishing, yacht cruises, swimming pools, children's playgrounds, bars. You can rent either bicycles, cars, boars or yachts. There are folklore and show programmes during the summer season.
SPORTS ACYIVITIES: Albena's guests can enjoy playing: tennis, table-tennis, golf, there are sports halls, football playgrounds, horse riding base, more sports include underwater diving, surfing, beach volleyball.

The site is 12 km from Albena Resort. Only 3 km away from Albena is the village of Obrochishte. The village is famous for its Muslim monastery “Teketo” - most probably built in 16th century. The sanctuary is honoured by both Christians and Muslims. It is believed that a saint was buried in “Teketo”. According to the Christians that was “St Atanasii” while according to the Muslims the saint was the spiritual leader Ak Yazala baba. Another place to visit is “Baltata” reserve which comprises a dense wood along Batova River.
